Halloween Costumes

jaredbenner55

We're just two days away from Halloween when I'm writing this. Things are different in the world right now because of Covid. There is something that Covid won't stop me from doing, dressing up for Halloween. One of the great things about Halloween is being able to dress like someone different from yourself. I'll even act like the person I'm dressed up as. Some people don't dress up when they're adults because they think they're too old to dress up. I'm almost 30 years old & I still dress up because it's fun. I don't go trick or treating anymore, but I still dress up. I thought I'd bring up some of the costumes that I've done over the years. I don't remember most of the costumes I've done as a kid, but I'm sure I did a lot of the classics like Frankenstein. I'm going to skip costumes that I did with my ex.

This year I'm going to be an Amish man. I originally was going to be Rick from Rick and Morty this year, but then I remembered that Rick has a bald spot. I commit to my costumes. That being said, I already had the beard going so I decided to be an Amish man this year.

The new costume that I did last year was an inside joke. I would explain it in this blog, but then it would no longer be an inside joke. We call it Purse-Head Jared.

The year before that I dressed up as my favorite horror villain, Freddy Krueger. I even did a fun series with my YouTube channel where I would review a book I was reading by Robert Englund while wearing my Freddy Krueger costume. I even changed my voice up to sound more like Freddy. I also got to go to a Halloween party dressed as Freddy that was a lot of fun.

The year before that I was my second favorite horror villain, Michael Myers. I did a really fun thing with this costume. I parked at a plaza in my town that had a movie theater in it. I made sure to park a good distance away from the theater. I walked from the far end of the plaza in the direction of theater, and I walked really slow like Myers just breathing so that people could see me. People were terrified of me. I'm 6"2 & a half tall and the shoes I was wearing probably made me a whole inch taller. I made sure to pick a seat in the back of the theater. This was on Halloween night & the movie was the new Saw movie that came out. The guy that just so happened to sit next to me was so excited to sit next to Michael Myers on Halloween, so he snap chatted me. When the movie was over I stood in front of my seat so that everyone in the theater could see Michael Myers as they walked out and their reactions were fantastic. When I walked out of the theater the guy that sat next to me waited for me so that he could get an autograph from Michael Myers and so I signed my named as Myers. Then I made the long walk back to my car as Michael Myers. I also got to go to a Halloween/birthday celebration as Myers and I was definitely the scariest costume there.

For one of my next costumes, I was my own version of the Joker. I wore a purple dress shirt, I had on purple pajama pants, I had someone put white make-up on my face and red on my lips. I also died my hair green for the occasion. I did go to a Halloween party like this.

One year when I was in college, I dressed up in a banana costume. This banana costume became a fan favorite with another one of my YouTube channels. In one video I went into a Publix dressed as a banana and I bought bananas. In another video that I made that same day, I ate those bananas that I bought while dressed in the banana suit. I made a bunch of other videos with the costume as well. I helped one of my college best friends propose to his now wife by wearing the banana suit, his wife is one of my YouTube fans.

The rest of the costumes that I mention, I no longer have pictures for.

One year I dressed up as the Hugh Jackman Wolverine. I had the mutton chops, I wore clothes like him, made my hair look like his the best I could, and I even made my own claws from scratch out of card board.

During my freshman year of college, I had dread locks. That being said, I dressed up as a pirate, with the clothes, bandana, and a plastic sword.

Those were some of my Halloween costumes over the years. I hope I inspired you with costume ideas. Happy Halloween and until my next blog, I hope you have beautiful days ahead of you.
